I'm Pastor Joel Osteen, and I'm so grateful to be able to share this message with you today. In life, we all have experienced hurt, betrayal, disappointment, and offenses from others, whether intentionally or unintentionally. These experiences can create a burden in our hearts and leave us feeling wounded, bitter, and resentful. But God wants us to forgive others, just as He has forgiven us. The Bible teaches us that forgiveness is not an option, but a commandment. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus said, "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." These words from Jesus should remind us of the importance of forgiveness in our lives Forgiving others is not always easy, but with faith, hope, and love, it is possible. God's Word reminds us that with Him, all things are possible. In Philippians 4:13, we read, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse reminds us that we can forgive others through the strength that God gives us. When we forgive others, we are also showing God's mercy to them. Mercy is not getting what we deserve, and it's a quality that God has shown to us countless times. In Psalm 103:8, we read, "The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love." This verse reminds us that God's mercy is always available to us, and we can show this same mercy to others when we forgive them. Forgiveness also opens the door to healing and restoration in our lives. When we hold onto unforgiveness, it can create a toxic environment in our hearts and minds. But when we choose to forgive, we create space for healing to take place. In James 5:16, we read, "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." This verse reminds us that when we confess our sins and forgive others, we can experience healing in our hearts and minds. In conclusion, forgiveness is a vital part of our Christian walk. God wants us to forgive others just as He has forgiven us. With faith, hope, and love, we can choose to forgive others, show God's mercy, and experience healing and restoration in our lives. Let's choose forgiveness today and trust that God will give us the strength to do so.
