As young Latinos and Latinas came of age, they, too, rebelled against the status quo, challenging their position in American society, exploring mind-altering substances, and breaking away from traditional norms inherited from their parents. As cultural barriers in the city began to loosen and pop culture reigned supreme, young Latin American musicians found themselves exposed to a wider array of influences than ever before.
