First Sunday of Advent | November 29, 2020

Welcome to our Eucharistic Celebration here at St. Philomene Parish in Sacramento, CA. This Sunday, we begin the Advent Season, that introduces us into a new liturgical year in preparation for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ through the Mystery of his Incarnation and his second coming. In today's Gospel, we are admonished to prepare the "way of the Lord". What is this "way of the Lord"? It is a life of "holiness and devotion", a life of "repentance" and "forgiveness", and a life of hearing the "glad tidings" of God's salvation and announcing this "good news" to the world. This is the way John the Baptist lived; this is the way of life into which Christ baptizes us with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Let's have a moment of silence and prepare ourselves for the coming of the Lord as we recognize him in the breaking of the Bread.
