Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an action adventure game. The story follows Kena, a young spirit guide who uses her magical abilities to help the deceased transition from the physical world to the spirit world. The game is presented from a third-person perspective. The player uses Kena's staff to attack enemies and her pulse ability to defend against attacks. They are tasked with gathering small spirit companions known as Rot, who help complete quests and fight off enemies. The development of the game was led by brothers Mike and Josh Grier, the founders of Ember Lab. After several years of creating branded ads and apps, the development team moved on to creating an original video game. They partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment for an exclusivity deal for the console and a development team of up to 15 core employees. The game's art was created in collaboration with Vietnamese animation studio Sparx, and its fictional world is inspired by oriental locations such as Japan and Bali. The original soundtrack was composed by Jason Gallaty, who collaborated with Balinese ensemble group Gamelan Çudamani to create respectful gamelan music. As for The Rot in particular, they are timid and delusional spirits scattered throughout the forest. They maintain the balance here by dissolving the elements between life and death. Key game features include: Build your team – Find and collect Rot to gain powerful abilities, explore and transform the environment. Explore the forgotten village and a strange curse lurking in the world of Kena Bridge of Spirits. Use the power of the Spirit Realm to restore this once majestic world. Fast-paced combat, the spirits have become damaged, trapped and unable to continue, challenging Kena everywhere in the game.
