Today's Gospel, Sunday, September 14, 2025 - John 3:13-17 - Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Sunday, September 14, 2025, Exaltation of the Holy Cross: Daily readings and Catholic reflection. Gospel of the day according to Saint John 3:13-17 Commentary on today's Gospel by Friar José Rafael: On the cross, it is not a failure that is nailed, but our selfishness that is nailed. On it, it is not a defeated person that hangs, but our cowardice. https://www.dominicos.org/predicacion... The feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross reminds us that from the tree of the cross spring the salvation of the human race, liberation from sin, and triumph over death. Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint John 3:13-17: At that time, Jesus said to Nicodemus: "No one has ascended to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of Man. " Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
