YOGA TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
COVID-19 HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF | 10 Min Yoga to Boost Your Immune System #covid19 #NellyYoga #YogaForImmuneSystem You might notice, at this time of year, we are facing more sickness, cold, flu, covid19 especially Omicron. But not many of us know that, Our bodies are more intelligent than we give them credit for. Nature is in tune with the seasons, and sometimes we forget we are part of nature. Yoga stimulates four systems which boost our immunity – circulation, digestion, nervous & endocrine. This sequence is invaluable to have on your practice schedule during the winter months. It’s not a high-intensity practice – it’s a healing, nurturing, immune boosting yoga practice. The poses encourage relaxation, reduce stress, and facilitate circulation throughout your whole body. These are the three most effective things that yoga asana can do to help support your immune system. You’ll start off on your back which requires very little exertion for those of you feeling fatigued. From there, you’ll gently open your hips, where stress and tension often pool. TWISTS Twists massage and bring fresh blood flow to all the internal organs – stimulating the digestive system for maximum nutrient absorption; the liver and kidneys to remove toxins; and the lymph system which supports white blood cell production. It also stokes your internal prana (life energy) generator and helps you stay warm from within over the colder periods. INVERSIONS Inversions get the blood flowing through your whole body – stimulating the digestive, nervous & endocrine systems. They also relieve stress and help with infertility, insomnia and sinusitis. As you move through the practice, give yourself permission to slow down and settle in to your body and breath. Try to be as gentle and patient with yourself as possible – especially if you have a cold when frustration and impatience can rear its head. These qualities—going slowly, nurturing yourself, taking your time—are your own natural antidotes to stress, depletion, and fatigue. I hope this sequence helps you tap into them and have a healthy winter season! Namaste! Nelly
