Homily for 16th Sunday by : Fr Mathew Charthakuzhiyil Today's Catholic Bible Reading & Gospel Reflection for July 18th - 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B From the Gospel according to Mark Mark 6:30-34 The apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat. So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place. People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them. When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. From the Homily by Fr Mathew Charthakuzhiyil My dear sisters and brothers in Christ: It is always a joy and a challenge for me to be the spiritual leader of this community. But one thing I can assure you for sure: I am willing to do anything to spiritually revive this community. I am afraid that if I fail in this capacity, in a few years I will be ‘a shepherd without a sheep’. It is my earnest hope and prayer that we can work together and rekindle our faith life in our communities. It is possible by becoming another Jesus to our sisters and brothers in alleviating their suffering. Today, our Lord is inviting us to become people with compassionate hearts, especially in caring for the forgotten, the abandoned and the neglected in our society Narrated by : Sunil Sasheendran Pillai DAILY CATHOLIC GOSPEL READING & WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER https://www.vaticannews.va/en/word-of...
