Puff Pastry Strawberry Danish After testing (and miserably failing...) with different filling combinations for my puff pastry danish (mascarpone, cream cheese, eggs, no eggs, flour, no flour)...I finally got the simplest combination I could come up with. This quick and easy recipe uses @organicvalley cream cheese for the base, and is prepped & ready to bake in just 10 minutes or less! See the final product on my Instagram @foodiesandfelines 1 thawed puff pastry sheet, gently rolled out 4 oz softened cream cheese 2.5 tbsp strawberry spread (@costco Kirkland organic strawberry spread) 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract (@traderjoes organic, alcohol free) Egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp water) 1. Combine the cream cheese with sugar and vanilla extract. 2. Place your rolled puff pastry on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and cut 1-inch strips into the outer thirds. 3. Add cream cheese filling to the center and spread evenly. Then add strawberry spread. 4. Alternate folding the dough strips in a slightly downward pattern to create a braided design. 5. Brush with egg wash. 6. Bake at 400F for 20 minutes and enjoy!
