In this video, we’ll take you through some simple tests you can do to diagnose ATV starting problems, and they start with the battery. We’re looking for 12.5 or 12.6 volts to make sure the battery is healthy. If your battery is dead, you may have charging problems on your ATV. Sometimes, even with a new battery your ATV won’t start. We’ll check out other causes. First, we’ll take a look at the main fuse on our ATV. The Yamaha YFZ450R has a spare fuse next to the main fuse, so you can make a quick replacement even when you’re out on the trail. But it’s a good idea to check and make sure you have the spare in it’s holding place so you have it when you need it. Next, we’ll check the starter relay to make sure it’s working, and finally we’ll see if the starter motor is working.
