SOUTHERN BLACK EYED PEAS | BLACK EYED PEAS RECIPE | SOUL FOOD | BEANS
Hey guys! Watch me as I make these delicious Southern Black Eyed Peas! They say black eyed peas are supposed to bring good luck and prosperity in the new year. Don’t miss out! I hope you enjoy this recipe! Ingredients: 1 lb of black eye peas Smoked turkey necks (or any smoked meat) 1 packet of beans & peas seasoning (Wiley’s brand) Onion powder Garlic powder Black pepper Grace All-Purpose Seasoning 2 Bay leaves Chicken Bouillon Powder Cook the ham hock: Boil smoked meat for 45 mins. You can cook the meat while the peas soak. Quick Soak: Sort through peas and rinse. Place peas in a pot and cover with hot water. Boil for 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and cover with a lid. Let peas soak for an hour. Drain and rinse after an hour. Cook the Peas: Place rinsed peas in pot with ham hock. Season to your taste. Let simmer for 1-1.5 hours.
