First Reading: Isaiah 58: 1-9a Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 51: 3-4, 5-6ab, 18-19 Verse Before the Gospel: Amos 5: 14 Gospel: Matthew 9: 14-15 There is some confusion on fasting and abstinence and what the Catholic Church provides for. We look at this and reflect on how we can truly connect with our God through its observance. As we G.R.I.P. the reins of fasting and abstinence, we are enlightened to the ways of God that make it easier for us to abandon the ways of the world. This is the 1053rd installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
