HP Printer setup support presents Find Your Printer Name or Number _ HP Printers _ HP If you're using an HP printer, you may need to know its name or number in order to find the right drivers and other software from HP Support. Here's how to find your printer name or number in Windows. Printers Locate HP printer product, model, and serial numbers on the label or from support apps. To find ink and toner cartridge numbers, go to HP Printer Ink, Toner, & Cartridges. NOTE: Most cartridges do not have a serial number. ● Product name (or model number): This is the printer brand name typically found on the front or top of the printer. HP Tango and HP DeskJet 2545 are examples of product names. Extra letters in a product name indicate differences between the same types of printers. For example, the HP LaserJet Pro M125a supports USB connections only. The HP LaserJet Pro M125nw supports wireless and wired network connections. ● Series name: A group of similar printers. For example, an OfficeJet Pro 8720 Printer series contains the OfficeJet Pro 8720, 8725, and 8728 printers. ● Serial number: A unique number that represents a single printer. Every printer that HP releases has its own unique serial number applied to the surface of the printer. ● Product number: A small, one-word name that represents an exact model of printer. K7C85A and M9C7A are examples of printer product numbers. Find product and serial numbers on the printer label Find the product name, number, and serial number on the label on the printer. ● On the back of the printer ● On the bottom of the printer Find product and serial numbers with the HP Smart app Find your printer name, product number, and serial number using the HP Smart app. ● Open the HP Smart app, and then create an account or sign in. If you do not have HP Smart, download it from 123.hp.com or your app store. ● From the app home screen, select your printer name or image. ● Click Printer Information to view the model name, product number, and serial number. Find product and serial numbers with HP Support Assistant (Windows) Find your printer name, product number, and serial number with HP Support Assistant on a Windows computer. ● In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant, or click the app icon in the taskbar. If the app is not installed on your computer, download the latest version from the HP Support Assistant (in English) website. ● If you are prompted with a Welcome screen, follow the steps to complete the initial setup. ● Click My Devices - Add an HP device to search for and add your printer.
