Second Chronicles covers the time from Solomon's ascension to the throne (971 BC) until the southern kingdom of Judah was finally carried into exile in Babylon in 586 BC. The focus of the book is on Judah. Three themes permeate the book of 2 Chronicles: God's promise to David of an eternal throne, God's desire to abide in his holy temple, and God's ongoing offer of forgiveness. God honored his covenant with David to establish David's house, or reign, forever. Chronicles is a great book to exhort believers to pray faithfully and live by his Word. 3. Chronicles reminds God's people to keep praying.
