Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating Demonstration
The tradition of Ukraine Egg painting, also known as pysanky, comes from the Ukrainian word “to write.” The eggs symbolize the Ukrainians' Catholic faith, and many Ukrainians risked persecution to make pysanky when Communists ruled the former Soviet Union. Today, local artist Linda Hupert is keeping this ancient tradition alive by teaching egg decorating at the Ukrainian Museum. In this video, she guides through the steps of creating the eggs.
