BMW E46 Air Filter Replacement

BMW E46 Air Filter Replacement

No tools required for one of the easiest maintenance items you can do yourself. Compared to an airbox on other cars, this one fits very tight without much clearance. I found it easiest to take off the intake elbow and collar to free up the top of the box completely for re-install. It all depends on your driving environment, but usually change these out every 15-25k, or just get a K&N filter that you clean instead of replace. Links below for everything. RockAuto is by far the cheapest but you'll have to pay shipping and you'll have a wait time. Amazon is Amazon, and as always I'm a fan of Advanced Auto if you go to a local parts store. The dealer charges about $100 for this EASY maintenance - you'll save yourself $50-$90 doing it on your own.
