Chicago Sunday Old Time Music Jam (7-21-2024)
Chicago Sunday Old Time Music Jam recorded at the Annual Sampson Family Barbeque (July 21, 2024). Old time music is Appalachian instrumental folk music brought to America from the British Isles during the 1700's, with fiddles playing the lead and other acoustic instruments (banjo, mandolin, guitar, bass) supporting the melody and the ensemble plays in unison. Old time music long predates bluegrass (a 1940's urban-derived musical style focusing on singing and individual instrumental breaks, often borrowing old time tunes for melodies).
