Tinea versicolor - The fungal Infaction

Tinea versicolor, also known as pityriasis versicolor, is a common fungal skin infection caused by an overgrowth of the Malassezia yeast, which is normally present on the skin. It results in discolored patches that can appear white, pink, red, or brown, primarily affecting the trunk and shoulders. Symptoms may include slightly scaly patches that do not tan with sun exposure. Diagnosis typically involves a physical exam and may include a Wood's lamp examination or skin scrapings. Treatment includes antifungal creams or shampoos, though recurrences are common
