Andrew and Nicola head over to the sweet section, which is overflowing with homemade pies, fruit cobblers, cakes, and cookies. Nicola immediately zeroes in on the Shoofly pie, a classic Amish dessert made with molasses, brown sugar, and a crumbly topping. Andrew, being more of a traditionalist, opts for a slice of apple pie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. As Andrew and Nicola enjoy their meal, they reflect on the unique cultural experience they’re having at Shady Maple.
