Blessed Assurance | Goth Rock Hymn (Lyrics Video)

Genre: Goth Rock Metal Song: Blessed Assurance Theme: HYMN about Assurance of Salvation, Comfort, and Faith Phoebe Knapp composed the music for this hymn in 1873. She played it on the piano for her friend, Fanny J. Crosby and asked her "What do you think the tune says?" Crosby replied "Blessed assurance; Jesus is mine.", and then she proceeded to write lyrics to accompany the melody. Crosby struggled with blindness all of her life and enrolled at the New York Institution for the Blind (NYIB) in 1835. She studied there for eight years and learned to play the piano, organ, harp, and guitar. She also became a proficient soprano singer. In the Fall of 1850 on November 30, after being troubled by a dream, Crosby found the light of Christ as she listened to hymns of consecration at a revival. Afterwards, in spite of her hardships and challenges, she wrote more than 8,000 hymns and songs and more than 1,000 poems. She also co-wrote many secular and patriotic songs. Through faith, the evidence of things not seen, and the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1), Crosby accomplished far more in her blindness than many sighted people do throughout their lives.
