Easy Garden Plant: Astrantia

Astrantia 'Gill Richardson' is a heavyweight in the world of flowers, it has the most luxuriously coloured petals and they are produced in abundance from early June through to September. There are many different Astrantias to choose form and the choice can at times be difficult to navigate as they all sounds so alluring. I can only speak from my experience of growing them here in Cumbria but on the whole this is one that stands out for its sheer vigour and floriferous splendour! If you're keen to attract insects into your garden this one you really should have in the boded somewhere. The flowers make excellent material for using in dried arrangements as well as adding a luxurious quality to a bunch of freshly cut material. I've had a love affair with this plant since I first saw it in my childhood and couldn't be without it now.
