6th Sunday of Easter

6th Sunday of Easter

You are most welcome to our celebration of Mass for the Sixth Sunday of Easter, in Year B from St Isidore's Catholic Church in Biggar. The readings for today are: First Reading – Acts 10:25-26,34-35,44-48; Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 97(98):1-4; Second Reading – 1 John 4:7-10; Gospel – John 15:9-17 In today's Gospel passage the invitation of the Lord resonates: “I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide” (Jn 15:16). It is a message meant in a specific way for the Apostles but, in a broad sense, regards all the disciples of Jesus. The whole Church, all of us are sent out into the world to spread the Gospel Message and the good news of salvation. But it is always God’s initiative; “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (ibid.) St Mary Magdalene’s and St Isidore’s have now re-opened for public worship. While there are restrictions on numbers, we hope to see as many as possible at Mass but you will need to book a place. To help us plan, please follow the guidance offered on our website and Facebook page to book your place.
