Sunday Mass - 11 AM - Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul
PETER AND PAUL SHOW US THE WAY Today we celebrate the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. While we lift them up and acknowledge their importance in the early life of the Church, I believe it is also important to remember their lives before they encountered the Risen Christ. Paul tells us plainly in his Letter to the Galatians that he was wholly committed to the destruction of the Church, even putting to death believers, like St. Stephen. Peter was one of Jesus’ closest friends; he truly loved Jesus. But he became afraid after Jesus’ arrest and he denied ever knowing his best friend in the world. Once Peter and Paul encountered the Risen Christ and came to trust the Spirit of Christ dwelling in their hearts, they became the most eloquent witnesses to our life in Christ. As we celebrate these powerful saints, let us seek to follow their example. We can trust the Spirit of Christ dwelling in our hearts. Christ can lead us from fear to courage, from doubt to faith, from anger to compassion, from darkness to light, and from death to hope in resurrection life. Let us abandon our isolated little selves and step fully into our true selves who make up the Body of Christ. From this place of freedom, we can announce the good news of salvation to the ends of the earth. God bless you. Saint Josephine Bakhita, you are with us. Fr. Mitch Join Us for Sunday Mass at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish Welcome to the live broadcast of Sunday Mass at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish.
