With the series already in the bag, the Black Caps will now look to improve the scoreline as they face Pakistan in the fifth and final T20I at Sky Stadium in Wellington on Wednesday (March 26). New Zealand arrived at the Bay Oval after losing a high-scoring encounter in Auckland in the third T20I. In that game, the hosts posted a total of 204, which was comfortably chased down by Pakistan, thanks to a fine century by youngster Hasan Nawaz. In the last match, the Kiwis batted first again and once more posted a total in excess of 200. Tim Seifert and Finn Allen gave the hosts a terrific start. Seifert made 44 off 22 balls, while Allen reached his half-century off just 19 balls before losing his wicket. Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell contributed with handy cameos, but it was the skipper’s whirlwind knock of 46 off 26 balls that took them to a massive total of 220/6 from their 20 overs. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking three wickets for just 27 runs from his four overs. The rest of the bowlers struggled, conceding more than 10 runs per over. In response, Pakistan lost Mohammad Haris off the second ball of their innings. Centurion from the previous game, Hasan Nawaz, also walked back cheaply, scoring just one run off four balls. Skipper Agha Salman followed soon after, dismissed for one. Irfan Khan Niazi and Abdul Samad were the only batters to reach double figures, scoring 24 and 44 respectively. Jacob Duffy was the standout bowler for New Zealand, bagging four wickets for just 20 runs, while Zak Foulkes took three for 25. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for just 105 in 16.2 overs.
