First Reading; Wisdom 13:1-9 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 19:2-3, 4-5AB Alleluia: Luke 21:28 Gospel: Luke 17:26-37 In our first reading from the book of Wisdom, the writer talks about the nature of foolishness of men who are ignorant of God. They resort to some form of idolatry, transfixed on the elements and, perhaps, in their own distorted belief, in power, knowledge and success. They may be seeking God but they are distracted constantly. They remain unfocused and sinful. We draw our reflection from verse 4: “Let them realize from these things how much more powerful is the one who made them.” We all have fears and insecurities — some of greater magnitude than others. Our fears and insecurities can make us obsessed to overcome them and even help us to succeed in our endeavors, be they in business or professions. But they continue to hang a Damocles sword over us that hounds us constantly, in our dreams — nay, nightmares – and in our relationships. This is the 584th installment of our CFC quarantine contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
