February 23, 2025 - Choral Eucharist with Sermon for the Seventh Sunday after Epiphany
Church of the Heavenly Rest’s primary Sunday service at 11 a.m. is Rite II Holy Eucharist, which includes music, a sermon, prayers, and lessons. Today’s liturgy and music: This Sunday's organ prelude Miroir captures Dutch composer Ad Wammes' modern voice as a classical composer, symphonic rock keyboardist, and former Sesame Street score writer. Our offertory anthem Ubi Caritas (2007) is Norwegian Ola Gjeilo's sweeping take on ancient chant style. At communion, we hear NY-based Episcopal musician David Hurd's Teach Me, O Lord, with a refrain and verses of Psalm 118 over a repeating harmonic chord pattern. The postlude is Cathedral of St. John the Divine's Daniel Ficarri's organ arrangement of Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit. The Seventh Sunday after Epiphany Celebrant: The Rev. Robert M.
