VIRTUAL TOUR TO CHRIST THE KING CATHEDRAL

TOUR GUIDE: Kristine Claire P. Revilla COMMENTARY: Tourists, we are now here to our attraction, Christ the King Cathedral. From the entrance you will see at your left a fountain designed and created by Mr. Rey “Kublai” Ponce Millan. It is situated right in front of the Church. It is inspired by the Gospel account of the miracle of the multiplication of loaves and fish. Christ the King Cathedral is the biggest cathedral in Mindanao. Engineer Arturo Agustin started the construction in 1993 but Engineer Arlene Adlawan, his project engineer, took over and brought it to completion. In the left side of the church is where you'll see the giant stations of the cross also known as way of the cross or Via Crucis, depicts series of images of our Lord Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers. At the back of the church where situated the world's largest and biggest rosary can be found. Each bead of the giant rosary weighs 35kg and it is made from Magcomo or Iron wood that is native to the mountains of Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur. Inside the church, you'll see how modern the church is with its eccentric architecture. Dr. and Mrs. Juan Gonzales graciously donated the two hectare parcel of land on which this place is situated. Through Tagumeños donations, it took 12 years for it to be finished and that is also in time of the celebration of the silver anniversary of the Diocese of Tagum City in 2005. Tagumeños dedicated this church to the glory of the king of kings. This church lives a living testimony of the generosity of the many people.
