Previously in Part 5 arriving on Feros, Shepard and his crew are attacked by the Geth. After destroying the Geth on Zhu's Hope, Shepard learns that they are based on the ExoGeni. There, Shepard discovers that the Geth were ordered by Saren to kill Thorian, a type of mind-controlling plant. After the battle with the Geth and destroying their ship, Shepard returns to Zhu's Hope because the Thorians are hiding underground. There, they encounter a colony mind-controlled by Thorians but manage to save them with the help of ExoGeni researchers. After tracking and killing the Thorian, Shepard meets with Shiala, who emerged from an egg created by the Thorian, and explains why Saren wanted to kill the Thorian as it was considered a settled matter and a potential problem.
