how to make adenium caudex Bigger | Thicker Adenium Caudex | Happy Gardening
Hello Everyone, Welcome back. Today I will be talking about the top 5 adenium tips and hacks to get bigger and wider caudex in your adenium plant. If you follow these tips carefully, your adenium caudex will surely grow faster. Those tips are, 1. Pot Selection 2. Soil Media 3. Proper Sunlight 4. Repotting 2 Times A Year 5. Dehydration In Winter 1.Pot Selection : ( Bigger pot but not too big ) According to my experience, you need to give your plant some space to grow its roots. So, I like to give them bigger pots. But way too big pot will hold lots of water and it may damage your plant. Some people like to use shallow pots but I don't like them because it curves my caudex roots and it looks bad later. 2.Soil Media: ( Loose soil Media ) The ratio between moisture-retaining and non-retaining components should be 30:70 Our rule of thumb is: i. Well Aerated ii. Moisture retentive iii. Well draining iv. Slow-release fertilizer. So, I'll use media with 1. Coco chips 2. Coco Peat 3. Leaf compost 4. Vermicompost 5. Stone Chips 6. Coal 3. Proper Sunlight: ( Adenium loves sunlight ) For better growth and flowering adenium needs proper sunlight. But Sun may burn its skin if the weather is way too hot. That's why mulching is important. Adenium grows best in rainwater so keep your plant in rain and make your soil media way too loose. 4. Repotting 2 Times A Year: ( Lift 1 to 2 Inch Up Every Time ) Repotting and pruning are really very important for your adenium. I usually repot some of my plants before rain and all of my mature plants after winter. I'll cut clean and air dry this plant in my room. In repotting process, you always need to uproot, cut and heal cutting areas. For that, you have to keep your plant gets dry. I made a separate video on that in detail. You may watch that video by clicking on the 'i' button. You can see how thick the caudex became. It was planted up to this portion. Now I'll lift 1 to 2 inches while repotting. So my plant will get more space to spread its root. 5. Dehydration in winter: Winter is dormant season for adenium. They don't grow in winter. So, They don't need lots of water and food at that time. So, at the end of winter, I take my plants out of their media, trim its root and branches and hang them in a place where they get air and light but no direct sunlight. After 3/4 weeks, I plant them again. When you dehydrate your plants, They think I don't have any food, So for next season, your plant will gather lots of food and store food in its caudex and the caudex will be thicker. That's all for today. Thank you for watching. If you have any questions, ask them in the comment section. Don't forget to like share and subscribe. Happy Gardening.
