Daily devotional: Growing in Grace and Knowledge | Devotional Reflection As we read in 2 Peter 3 verse 18 "Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." We learn that we should Grow in grace, but not in one grace only, in all grace. We need to grow in the root grace, we must grow in faith. We must believe the promises more firmly than we’ve done. Let our faith increase in fullness, constancy, and simplicity. We have to grow in love. Ask that our love may become extended, more intense, more practical, influencing every thought, word, and deed. We have to grow in humility. Seek to lie very low, and know more of your own worthlessness, for in humility, we’ll find grace and strength. As we grow downward in humility, we also need to grow upward, having nearer approaches to God in prayer and more intimate fellowship with Jesus. May God the Holy Spirit enable us to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. He who doesn't grow in the knowledge of Jesus, will lose His blessing. To know Him is, life eternal, and to strengthen our self in His knowledge, is to multiply in happiness. If we do not long to know more of Jesus Christ, Is the same as not knowing Him at all. Whoever has tasted the water of life, will thirst for more, although Christ does satisfy, it is such a satisfaction, that the appetite is not cloyed, but whetted. If we know the love of Jesus, as the deer pants for the water brooks, so will we pant after deeper draughts of His love. If we do not desire to know Him better, then we do not love Him, for love always cries, Nearer, nearer. Absence from Christ is hell; but the presence of Jesus is heaven. We should not rest without making an increasing acquaintance with Jesus. Learn more of Him in His divine nature, in His human relationship, in His finished work, in His death, in His resurrection, in His present glorious intercession, and in His future royal advent. Stay close to the Cross, and search the mystery of His wounds. An increase of love to Jesus, and a more perfect understanding of His love for us is one of the best tests of growth in grace. Let’s pray this Prayer: Lord, help us to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May our faith, love, and humility increase. Draw us closer to You and deepen our understanding of Your love and sacrifice. Amen.
