The Reign of Christ Sunday November 21, 2021
St Barnabas is a small Anglo-Catholic congregation. We are thrilled that you are able to join us via YouTube. You may find the service complicated and hard to follow. Having developed over many centuries, the mass is filled with ritual, symbols, language and music. At its core the mass is a means by which humans can encounter the divine. It is that encounter that has kept the congregation of St Barnabas attending since 1870. We pray that you may enjoy such an encounter through the mass. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION FOR THOSE JOINING ONLINE: The Prayer Book teaches us (P. 584) that we do eat and drink the Body and Blood of our Saviour Christ profitably to our soul’s health, although we do not receive the sacrament with our mouths. IN Union, dear Lord, with the faithful at every altar of thy Church where thy blessed Body and Blood are being offered to the Father, I desire to offer thee praise and thanksgiving. I believe that thou art truly present in the Holy Sacrament. And since I cannot now receive thee sacramentally, I beseech thee to come spiritually into my heart. I unite myself unto thee, and embrace thee with all the affections of my soul. Let me never be separated from thee. Let me live and die in thy love. Amen. Come Lord Jesus, dwell in thy servant in the fullness of thy strength, in the perfection of thy ways, and in the holiness of thy spirit, and rule over every hostile power in the might of thy Spirit, and to the glory of thy Father. Amen. May ✠ the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ preserve my body and soul unto everlasting life. Amen.
