The Bumblebee and Butterfly
Check out the lyrics below! Please help me to find Tony Edwards. I've set 4 of his poems to music. The Bumblebee and Butterfly is one of them. I would very much like to get in touch with him. He was born in Liverpool and has also lived in Brighton. My email is [email protected] Thanks so much! The Bumblebee and Butterfly Tony Edwards Beneath a dark polluted sky, the bumblebee and butterfly were having a debate. Distressed by overwhelming grief, they hid beneath a withered leaf to put the record straight. The bumble-bee was first to speak, and what he had to say was bleak, he said it with a sigh: “Mankind has lost his sanity, his essence of humanity; the Earth is set to die.” “The countryside has disappeared and all the forests have been cleared,” the butterfly agreed. “And still they build their high-rise tombs while Nature’s deconstruction looms; insanity indeed!” The bumblebee just flapped its wings, “They care not what the future brings,” he uttered with contempt. “Their pesticides have killed the grass; they fill their air with toxic gas, as though they were exempt.” “The birds have all grown silent now, and leaves have died on every bough Of every tree by spring; while summertime brings sleet and snow from skies that breathe a toxic glow that shrivels everything.” As tears of sadness filled their eyes, they spoke about the Earth’s demise, for fate had now decreed, that planet earth must pay the price, for man’s iniquity and vice and his immoral greed.
