made from fire
Tony Emsley R.I.P Tony was a good friend, a talented musician, an award winning film producer, and a very warm, open spirit. Back in the mid 80's he was the drummer in our band. He was also the manager, sometimes wearing himself out managing, drumming and knocking on doors trying to promote the band. He went on to film school and produced many award winning short films. He always pushed himself and others onto bigger and greater things, money was never his concern though, only trying to bring out the creative and imaginative qualities he saw in people. Suicide has always been a taboo subject. Nobody wants to talk about such an overwhelmingly sad event. A natural, or accidental death is difficult enough for family and friends to cope with, but suicide always touches far deeper emotions. Sometimes anger, sometimes just sheer confusion. It would be much better if family and friends could see the signs earlier, but the nature of depression is concealment and a feeling of separation. People cover up and try to hide their pain and deep sadness, so even the closest people to them are unaware of their pain and feeling of hopelessness. If only we could see the signs earlier. My heart and thoughts go out to Tony's wife, child and mother. There is always a space left behind after such tragedies. This song, is in a small way, my way of filling a part of that space. Hope in the face of Hopelessness. I know you're at peace now friend. made from fire we all owe something to someone no-one can make it alone don't keep inside what binds us don't let that isolation grow we were made from fire built from sand and glue bringing it on and taking it higher c'mon i know we'll make it through all my friends are leaving they couldn't take the weight anymore outside they smile inside they're feeling for this life there ain't any cure we were made from fire built from sand and glue bringing it on and taking it higher c'mon i know we'll make it through i wish i knew how you were feeling i could've done more i know outside you smiled but inside you were bleeding sometimes those scars never show we were made from fire built from sand and glue bringing it on and taking it higher c'mon i know we'll make it through
