Saint Michael Chaplet

Saint Michael Chaplet

The Chaplet of St. Michael is a traditional Catholic devotion honoring St. Michael the Archangel and the nine choirs of angels. It consists of a series of prayers recited on a special set of beads, typically featuring nine groups of three beads each, separated by larger beads, with a medal or image of St. Michael at the center or end. The chaplet is designed to seek the intercession and protection of St. Michael and the heavenly hosts against evil, while fostering a deeper connection to the angelic realm. The prayer begins with an invocation, often including the "Our Father" and "Hail Mary," followed by specific prayers for each of the nine choirs of angels: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Virtues, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. Each set of prayers is offered in honor of one choir, asking for their assistance in spiritual growth, protection, and guidance. The chaplet concludes with a prayer to St. Michael, invoking his role as the defender of God's people and leader of the heavenly armies. Rooted in a vision reportedly received by St. Michael in 1751 to a Portuguese Carmelite nun, Antonia d'Astonac, this devotion is believed to carry promises of angelic protection and deliverance from evil for those who pray it devoutly. It remains a powerful spiritual tool for Catholics seeking strength and safeguarding in their faith journey.
