Jesus answered, "Do you think that those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered like this? I tell you, no, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them—do you think that they were worse sinners than all the other inhabitants of Jerusalem?" I tell you, no; and unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. And he told them this parable: "A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he went looking for fruit on it and found none. Then he said to the vinedresser, "You see, for three years I have been coming looking for fruit on this fig tree and finding none. Cut it down; why should it harm the ground?" But the vinedresser replied, "Sir, leave it alone for this one more year, and in the meantime I will dig around it and put manure over it, and see if it will bear fruit from then on.
