33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A NOVEMBER 19, 2023
What is Jesus for you: Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity. He is believed by Christians to be the Son of God, who came to earth to save humanity from sin. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and that he rose from the dead three days later. Jesus's life and teachings have had a profound impact on the world. His message of love, forgiveness, and hope has inspired people for centuries. Jesus's life also shows us the way to live a good and meaningful life. He taught us to love our enemies, to forgive those who have wronged us, and to help those in need. If you are looking for a way to live a better life, I encourage you to learn more about Jesus Christ. His teachings can help you to find peace, joy, and purpose in your life. Here are some of the ways that Jesus can impact your life: He can give you hope. When you are going through a difficult time, Jesus can give you hope for the future. He can remind you that he loves you and that he will never leave you or forsake you. He can forgive your sins. No matter what you have done, Jesus can forgive you. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins, so that you can be free from guilt and shame. He can give you peace. Jesus can give you peace in the midst of chaos. He can calm your fears and worries, and give you a sense of security. He can give you joy. Jesus can fill your life with joy, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. He can give you a reason to be happy, even when things are tough. He can give you purpose. Jesus can give your life purpose. He can show you how to use your gifts and talents to make a difference in the world. Julien B. Well: “Live in the awareness that Christ lives and that He lives in His people.” Clarence W. Hall: “The resurrection of Jesus changes the face of death for all His people. Death is no longer a prison, but a passage into God’s presence. Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there.” “Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise!” We echo Pope Francis's words, that "The Gospel calls us to recognize, in the history of humanity, the design of a great work of inclusion, which fully respects the freedom of every person, every community, every nation, and calls everyone to form a family of brothers and sisters, in justice, solidarity and peace, and to be part of the Church, which is the Body of Christ." "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 We are a pre-recorded online church. My name is Hugo Fernandes and because of Covid-19 we give oxygen to the fact that Jesus is still living with us. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 This is our Faith: We believe we are the CHURCH We embrace everyone Our mental struggle is faith-resolved Our environment is our peace We open our hearts to the needy & powerless Our spirituality is forgiveness We never condone racism We share our earthly resource We live life to the full We Enjoy God. "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." Psalm 143:10 Our understanding is that God's slavation is for all people. We believe it begins within ourselves first. "But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life." Jude 1:20-21 We believe God show mercy and compassion on everyone therefore if we want to be like God we have to do the same. You cannot love God, and hate you very own human being. I work in the Aged Care sector. I am a Pastoral Care Coordinator and l'll have you know it is no mean feat. Caring for the ederly is a calling not a job and l keep on drilling this idea with my fellow employees. Being an ex-priest in the Catholic Church l thought l had a pretty good idea of church and people. When l joint Aged Care it was a different ball game. All people need salvation and all people get salvation from this one God, Allah, Om, Higher Power, Being or Zen that we believe in. I may sound polarizing, but unless you work in an Aged Care set up, you prayer with the residents, you get to know their aspirations, their desires, their need, their desire for God, you will not know this parallel world we live in. So, be kind and full of empathy for we all will meet our Maker.
