Wii U Optical Drive replacement/repair
Tools needed: Tri-Wing Screwdriver (v. cheap on eBay) Phillips screwdriver #2 (#3 will probably work) Phillips screwdriver #00 for the PCB removal. This was my attempt at replacing the damaged Disc Drive in my Wii U. I had not done this before so there was some trial and error ;) After putting it all back together the console did not work (Error code: 1601402). It was then, through some extensive googling that I had to swap the PBC/Logic Board over to the new drive. This still did not completely repair the console - though the error code 160-1402 was no longer showing! All it seems it took was a little nudge on the mechanism to get it moving and has worked fine ever since - Great success!
