
Lobia masala|Chawli ki sabji|Punjabi lobia masala|Black eyed beans recipe
A simple and easy recipe using black eyed beans or lobia or chawli in punjabi style Ingredients 1 cup Lobia 4 tbsp Mustard Oil 1 tsp Cumin Seeds 1 inch Cinnamon 2-3 Cloves 3-4 Black Peppercorn 1 cup Onion Chopped 2-3 Green Chilli Slit into half 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste 1 cup Tomato Chopped 2 tbsp Coriander Powder 1 tsp Turmeric Powder 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder 1 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder Salt to taste 2 tbsp Lemon Juice 2 tbsp Kasuri Methi 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander Chopped Method 1. Wash the lobia and soak in enough water for 6-8 hours. Drain the water and add it in a pressure cooker along with 3 cups of water and 2 tsp salt. Pressure cook until lobia is softened. 2. Heat oil in a kadai and when the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and fry until they start to crackle. 3. Add cinnamon stick, cloves and black peppercorns and fry for a few seconds. 4. Add onion and green chilli and fry until they turn translucent. 5. Now add ginger garlic paste and fry until the onion turns golden brown. 6. Add tomato and cook for a minutes. 7. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and garam masala powder and cook for 3-4 minutes until oil separates from the side. 8. Now add lobia along with the water and adjust the salt. 9. Adjust water and cook for 10-12 minutes. 10. Add lemon juice and kasuri methi and mix well. 11. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or Paratha. Do try at home and let me know how it turned out.
