All Saints Day (observed), November 3, 2024

We at OSLC are pleased to provide this service. Today is All Saints’ Day (observed) and the color changes to white. The mood of the day is more joyful than somber: we are glad because of God’s promise that those who die in the faith are with the Lord in Heaven. The first distribution hymn is not a common one for us. We will try to get some folks to sing it loud. The faithfully departed shall be honored after the sermon with their name and a toll of the bell. We have procession and recession with hymns to mark this special day in the church calendar. Color: White Prelude Bells Opening Hymn: 651 “I Love Your Kingdom, Lord” Liturgy: DS III First Reading: Revelation 7:9–17 Gradual: Revelation 7:14b; Psalm 84:5 Epistle: 1 John 3:1–3 Gospel: Matthew 5:1–12 Hymn of the Day: 677 “For all the saints” Text Focus: Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” Distribution Hymn B: 633 “At the Lamb’s high feast we sing” Closing Hymn: 676 “Behold a host, arrayed in white” We thank Concordia Publishing House (CPH) for this temporary promotional license during this time of crisis. https://music.cph.org/lutheran-servic...
