UP 5504| E Woodward Ave Railroad Crossing Activation Disabled For MoW, New Traffic Signals MantecaCA
April 15, 2026 After catching the ACE train in Stockton, I went to check on the port and then left for Manteca first filming here at Woodward Ave. The Woodward Ave crossing here was finally completed and has all traffic signals installed since I last filmed here back in Dec 2025, it only had the new crossing signals therefore was still closed to traffic. This is my first time filming the new version of this crossing open to traffic with functioning new traffic signals. Unfortunately, there was maintainance of way preparing to start their day with track tamper and ballast machines departing the Calla Siding here after this freight train therefore, the signal maintainers at the crossing disabled the crossing while the trains front end had passed by as they turned off the crossing circuits for maintainance crew which personnely for me was annoying since this was my first time filming this crossing with its new traffic signals active and still couldn't get a full proper video because of the circuit deactivation for MOW. It's MOW season, one of the most annoying seasons for railfanning especially in the 2020s decade where everything is already 100x more annoying and stressful to do and problematic. MOW season isn't every year but every 5, 8, or 10 years. I won't be back for a little to get a proper finished video if this crossing active because I have other priority locations to film that are scheduled right now and maybe I need to wait a couple of more months anyway to film this crossing because I heard reports that this crossing is strange with its traffic signals and they had to run a trial traffic signal run of the E Woodward Ave and Moffat Blvd intersection here when the new traffic signals were installed something I never heard before when an intersection is changed from stop sign for 1 way T Intersection to a full traffic signal T intersection. Union Pacific Railroad manifest freight train passes through the East Woodward Avenue railroad crossing on the UP Fresno Sub in Manteca, California with new traffic signals.
