Amorim "felt from the first minute" that Manchester United would win|Arsenal|FA Cup|Zirkzee|Rashford
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim said he felt “from the first minute” that his team would knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup on Sunday, despite playing the third-round tie with ten men for over an hour before prevailing 5-3 on penalties. Defending champions United were left at a numerical disadvantage after Diogo Dalot was shown a second yellow card, having mistimed a tackle on Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino on 61 minutes. Under-fire Joshua Zirkzee scored the winning penalty after Kai Havertz’s spot kick was saved, following a match where the German forward missed several chances to seal victory. Havertz's effort in the shoot-out was stopped by United's second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who had also blocked a second-half spot kick from Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard after Havertz was fouled in the box by Harry Maguire. The result saw record 14-time FA Cup winners Arsenal exit the competition in the third round for a third time in four seasons, while Manchester United advanced to a fourth-round home tie with Leicester City.
