Meet The Pro: Thomas Nicolon (NatGeo Explorer)

Host Toby Jermyn welcomes wildlife photographer and National Geographic Explorer Thomas Nicolon, based in southern France, to the Pangolin Podcast, where guests imagine a remote dwelling and choose four of their own photos plus one by another photographer. He describes sleeping above the Dzanga forest clearing in the Central African Republic, and documents a GPS-collaring operation on forest elephants in Conkouati-Douli National Park. He also discusses rainforest shooting tips, protecting gear from humidity, his path from journalism to Nat Geo grants, future trips to DRC and Cameroon, and admires David Chancellor’s sunset giraffe image. Here is a link to a gallery of Thomas' images: https://pangolin.smugmug.com/SmugMug-... Thomas shares stories from Central Africa, including a forest elephant photographed at a research camp in Congo and a portrait of Kingo taken shortly before his death.
