Azerbaijani Authorities Interrogate Music Fan Over Eurovision Vote For Armenia

Azerbaijan and Armenia was competed in Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and 2009. Azerbaijan never voted for Armenia, although Armenia did give Azerbaijan a point in the voting. During voting at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, 43 votes were registered in Azerbaijan for Armenia. The BBC has reported that all have been questioned by the police about their voting. One member of the public that had been accused of voting for Armenia explained that the authorities bccused him of being unpatriotic and a potential security threat for Azerbaijan.
