SAnKTUM - Psalm 138: Lord, On the Day I Called for Help
The Responsorial Psalm for the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C) comes after the reading of the account of Abraham's intercession with God for the city of Sodom, which God threatened to destroy because of its many sins. Remembering that his kinsman, Lot, lived there with his family, Abraham went to great lengths to bargain with the Lord to avoid the city's destruction. Although the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were not spared, Lot and his family were saved because of God's mercy and justice. This is the heart of prayer: not simply intercession but authentic relation! It is not enough to recite prayers; what is needed is a prayerful heart - one that remains in the presence of the Beloved to listen, to stay, and to simply be. We do not often ask our significant others for favors or gifts to keep the relationship but we do keep our communication lines open and free - the same goes for our relationship with God. SAnKTUM sings Mr. Aldo Joson's setting of Psalm 138, "Lord, on the Day I Called for Help," with Revie, our bass, as cantor. #SAnKTUM2025 #SAnKTUMat24 #SAnKTUMSings #SAnKTUMPeeps #SAnKTUMCelebrates #OrdinarilyHoly
