NASA Awards Contract to Restart Development of Engines to Power Agency’s Journey to Mars

NASA announced that Aerojet Rocketdyne has been awarded a contract to re-start the production of the RS-25 engine for the core stage of NASA's new Space Launch System (SLS). The new contract expands upon the pre-production activities currently underway and will lead to re-certification of the RS-25, which originally flew as the Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME).
