The music was originally published in 1998, and has subsequently been revised several times to reflect the accurate translations of the psalm verses. Guimont's psalms are relatively simplistic, although they often have unique chord progressions and psalm tones. While Owen Alstott's Respond & Acclaim (a competing and arguably more popular psalter from Oregon Catholic Press) also offers simplistic melodies, Alstott's book lacks some of the more unusual progressions seen in Lectionary Psalms. In other words, Guimont's psalms are not quite as simplistic as Alstott's, but they are still very achievable for the average parishioner. The psalms are written to be played by organ, piano, and/or guitar, which allows for all types of ensembles to use them in the liturgy. Guimont's psalms can be found in GIA hymnals, namely Gather, RitualSong, and Worship. While every psalm is not included in every book, there are at least a large handful that appear in each. In this video, you will find psalm 98. Psalm 98:1, 2–3, 3–4 (144) Refrain: The Lord has revealed to the nations His saving pow'r, His saving pow'r. Verse 1: O, Sing a new song to the LORD, For He has worked wonders; His right hand and His holy arm, have brought salvation. Verse 2: The LORD has made known His salvation: has shown his deliverance to the nations. He has remembered His merciful love, and His truth for the house of Israel. Verse 3: All the ends of the earth have seen The salvation of our God. Shout to the LORD all the earth: Break forth into joyous song and sing out your praise. #responsorialpsalm #churchmusic
