Amazon rainforest: Young man from isolated Indigenous tribe spotted in nearby village

#englishnews #indigenoustribe #indigenous News Article :- A young man from an isolated Indigenous tribe in the Amazon rainforest has been caught on camera trying to speak to locals in a nearby village. Video showed the man wearing a loincloth and carrying two logs as he arrived in Bela Rosa, a community along the Purus River, at around 7pm on Wednesday. In the clip, obtained by the Associated Press, he appears to be asking locals for help setting the logs alight and is in good spirits. Officials from Brazil’s Indigenous affairs agency, Funai, said the man is believed to have returned to the forest less than 24 hours later. The Amazon has around 1.5 million Indigenous divided into around 400 tribes across eight different countries. In Brazil alone, there is an Indigenous population of around 900,000 and 274 different languages have been recorded, according to researchers at Amazon Aid. Brazil also has more uncontacted Indigenous communities than anywhere else in the world. Funai said in a statement Friday that the young man returned to the forest on Thursday afternoon. It added that a team of health professionals was sent to assess if the young man had been exposed to any disease to which isolated Indigenous tribes have no immunity. They also said surveillance has been established to prevent people from reaching the isolated tribe’s location. As a policy, Brazil does not actively seek contact with these groups but instead establishes protected and monitored areas, such as Mamoriá Grande, near where the encounter occurred.
