Service November 8, 2020 ~ Music Sunday ~ Music Is the Breath of God
A string quintet will join tenor Ray Bauwens, oboist Mason Tran and dancer Mitzi Eppley for a special online Music Sunday. Program Notes & Musicians: https://www.firstunitarian.com/music/... Service Music: Nov 8 is our annual Music Sunday. Without the possibility of having our choir perform a major choral work, we have scaled down to present a chamber work: Bach's Cantata 82 Ich habe genug, with Ray Bauwens, tenor accompanied by socially distanced strings, oboist Mason Tran, and continuo. Mitzi Eppley will present contemporary dance interpretations for several of the works. Will Sherwood directs this week, returning temporarily from his fall sabbatical. Additionally there will be works for oboe, strings, and organ by Albinoni/Giazotto, Handel, and Saint-Saens. Although we are open for in-person attendance, we recommend that watching on YouTube will offer the best viewing and aural experience for both the music and the dance (there will be additional cameras to cover the dancer). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [0:15] Prelude Adagio in G Minor (reconstructed 1958) Remo Giazotto / Tomaso Albinoni [8:11] Announcements and Welcome [10:46] Call to Worship What Heals Us [11:44] Chalice Lighting [11:56] Covenant [12:12] Doxology [13:00] Hymn 36 (Gray) When in Our Music God Is Glorified Engelberg [15:16] Magical Moment Becoming Bach based on a book by Tom Leonard [21:12] Bach Cantata 82 Ich habe genug J.S.
