Surah Al-Araf (Arabic: سورة الأعراف, "The Heights") is the 7th chapter of the Quran. It consists of 206 verses (ayahs) and is a Makki surah, meaning it was revealed in Mecca. The surah derives its name from the mention of "Al-Araf" (the Heights), a place between Paradise and Hell, described in verses 46-48. Key Themes: Tawhid (Oneness of Allah): The surah emphasizes the oneness of Allah and warns against shirk (associating partners with Allah). Stories of Past Nations: It recounts the stories of previous prophets and their communities, such as Adam, Noah, Hud, Salih, Lot, Shuayb, and Moses. Warning to Disbelievers: It warns those who reject Allah's signs and messages of the severe punishment that awaits them. Notable Verses: Verse 26: Discusses the clothing of righteousness as the best garment. Verse 54: Emphasizes Allah's creation of the heavens and the earth in six days. Verse 172: Mentions the covenant of Allah with humanity before creation, known as the "Primordial Covenant."
