Your sentinels lift up their voices, together they sing for joy; for in plain sight they see the return of the Lord to Zion. Leader: The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; People: And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. Hymn # 185, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” Prayer of Confession God-with-us, we confess that we have not embraced your love. We speak when we ought to listen; we are silent when we ought to sing. We are consumed with vanity and work for things that perish. Forgive us, loving God. Enable us to believe and receive the glory of your Word made flesh: good news of great joy in Jesus Christ our Lord. Assurance of Forgiveness Gloria Patri Sharing of the Peace DECLARATION OF THE WORD OF GOD New Testament Lesson-Ephesians 1:3-14 Special Music Gospel Lesson-John 1:1-14 Sermon-Rev. Timothy Monroe RESPONSE TO THE WORD OF GOD Affirmation of Faith-(Westminster Confession of Faith) The Son of God, the second Person in the Trinity, being very and eternal God, of one substance, and equal with the Father, did, when the fullness of time was come, take upon him man’s nature, with all the essential properties and common infirmities thereof; yet without sin: being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the Virgin Mary, of her substance. So that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and the manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person, without conversion, composition, or confusion. Which person is very God and very man, yet one Christ, the only Mediator between God and man. Hymn # 221, “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly” Prayers of the People & the Lord’s Prayer (“…debts…and debtors…”) Hymn # 198, “Good Christian Friends, Rejoice” Benediction Postlude *********
