Make the most of your Smoky Mountain Family Vacation as you hear and see what we experienced when our large family visited the park. Learn what our Must Sees were: (As always these are not in order of priority, but in the order they appear in the video. They are all MUSTS!) 1 – 6:35 - Mammoth Hot Springs: This area is just inside the north entrance and is a collection of various hot springs. It is a great place to tour through the shops at the village then take in all the terraces. https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisi... 2 - 13:00 - Go to Artist Point: This is probably the most iconic and well known view of the falls. You will want to take a thousand pictures here. https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisi... 3 - 15:40 - Go See the Dragons: There is a great area just south of Canyon Village called the Mud Volcano. There are a lot a neat features to see here, but the two that our kids loves the most were Black Dragon's Cauldron and Dragon's Mouth. Neither disappointed! https://www.nps.gov/yell/blogs/dragon... Steal all our Family Pro Tips: 1 - 2:30 - Book Early: Yellowstone is one of the countries more popular parks and for a good reason. But that means a lot of people are filling up the camping, rv parks and hotels around the area. Many of the best places book up a full year in advance. So be sure to make your reservations as early as possible, especially if you want to stay inside the park...which you do. https://www.yellowstonenationalparklo... 2 - 3:10 - Plan to Stay in Multiple Locations Around the Park: When you do make those reservations make some in several different places. The park is huge and I mean huge. We found that it is really helpful to split your trip up into sections and then plan to stay around the area of the park. This will allow you to spend more time seeing things and less time driving back and forth on the same roads. 3 - 3:55 - Plan for Long Drives: Even if you do stay in different places throughout your trip you are still going to be driving and those drive will take you longer than you think. On the map it just looks like 20 miles, but when you add in slow speeds, animal jams and all the pull off you'll want to stop at... it takes a while. So plan ahead for that so you can enjoy the slow pace and not be frustrated by it. 4 - 7:55 - Don't Walk Up, Drive Up: Mammoth Hot Springs terraces are beautiful, but there are a lot of stairs. But the good news is that you don't have to walk them all. The main road goes up to the top and leads to a loop drive off the main road where you can park and get out to see the upper areas...without walking all the stairs. https://www.nps.gov/thingstodo/yell-m... 5 - 12:40 - View Upper and Lower Falls from Multiple View Points: The two falls are amazing, but it is even more amazing to see them from different angles and platforms. So be sure to take time to drive along the north and south roads and stop at several different stops. https://www.nps.gov/thingstodo/yell-g...
